February 6th Teaser, Teaser, Pumpkin Eater.

The Hive's February show isn't full of romance and heart shaped chocolate boxes. We've got a full line up of pieces guaranteed to suit whatever status you've found yourself in this year. Here's a couple teasers to tug at your sweet little hearts and tickle your fancy for our show on Saturday, Saturday, Saturday!

JESSICA WARD

Jessica's beautifully macabre artwork will seize your attention in an instant. The message that runs behind her depictions of dual-limbed temptresses that snack on their coiffures are much deeper than what meets the eye. Her graphite charm uncovers ugly truth in the realm of eating disorders and body dysmorphia. Every spiral, skeleton and string of hair represents something different in her ward of mysterious mistresses.

SNOW MACK

For all you surrealist admirers, Snow Mack's ardent geisha and ninja piece has enough color and personality to spread from the frame to your cheeks! The careful detail squeezed into every inch of the painting will put you in the artist's dream state alongside the characters. Mack's artwork is inspired by visions and psychedelic fantasies. From the moons in Miss Geisha's kimono to the swirls in the coy pond, this piece will keep your eyes busy for awhile! In addition to the already exquisite detail in the painting, the frame is another piece of art in itself! It is composed of several golden trinkets and treasures and gems. Psychedelic ninjas, kimono's made of moons and golden treasures...what more could I ask for?

Sylvia Lizarraga

"Look me in the eyes and tell me you love me," is what comes to mind at first glance when looking at this piece. You can almost feel the heartache you see in this fallen queen's eyes. The sparkle that hides in her crown and eyes are remarkable. The gold beams sprouting out from behind her blindingly blond locks give her the look of a holy deity, a modern day Madonna, crying for her lost love. Bees swarming around her face make this an even more appropriate fit for The Hive! Sylvia truly captures her subject's soul and energy in her work, producing photorealist paintings that you can feel as well as see.

Sylvia's Myspace contains a lot more information on her artwork and style. GO! Go now!
